From this August, reporters travelled around Chenzhou city and found many former sites of Anti-Japanese War were left there. Chenzhou people fought against Japanese enemies toughly. Xiongfeng mountain and Mingxing bridge were two strategic points that never taken by the enemy. The surprise attacks organized by some patriotic military organizations of Kuo Min Tang and Chinese Communist Party and some activities handled out by local hot-blooded youngsters defeated the enemies badly. Till the end of the war, the invaders could only hide in the urban area and some shelters set in the important traffic lines, and dared not to do evils. Chenzhou city- the heroic city composed a brilliant page in the Anti-Japanese War. 

Due to the natural and human factors, some former sites of the Anti-Japanese War were under the condition of rescuing conservation. The trenches of Xiongfeng mountain, the body of Mingxing bridge, and some other former sites of important battles which bared the memories of war would be destroyed without proper protection.

Concerned for the aged soldiers who ever attended the war, more and more died and the ones who can recall the history are seldom. According to the statistic, more than 2000 self-defense team members attended Mingxing Bridge Defending War, but now just two of them are alive and both are not capable to be well communicated with. The memories of the aged soldiers need some professional people’s assistance to be kept in record and handed down to the descendants.

The study and disposure of enemies’ crimes and collection of some historic facts are not sufficiently handled out in Chenzhou city. Actually this collection work is our duty.

On the above point, some aged comrades and fans of literature and history called that the study of Anti-Japanese War should be enrolled into the strategy of the construction of strong cultural city and some memorial halls, conservation zones and exhibition zones of Anti-Japanese War should be established gradually. It is purposely to make the descendants to memorize the history. At the meantime, some historic data should be collected, settled and published to provide fresh and direct patriotic materials for Chenzhou people.

Forgetting the past means betrayal, so all of us should carry forward the spirit of Anti-Japanese War to improve our material and spiritual homeland on the celebration of 70th anniversary of victory of Anti-Japanese War.
