Most of Chinese lands were occupied by the Japanese imperialists in 1945. Chinese people were suffered from the war. Leshui town (now is Tiantang town) which was in the remote mountainous area of China was not avoidable either. In the Spring of 2015, some regiments of Japanese army directed to Tiantang village via Hejia and Zhegutian and committed all manners of evil on the way. All Chinese people hated their guts.

In the summer of 1945, more than 20 students from Yizhang Normal School, Yizhang Middle Shool and Xiangnan Middle School established an anti-Japanese propaganda team spontaneously. It consisted of 4 groups as propaganda group, singing group, drama group and instrument group. All team members rehearsed carefully in Tianlisi Primary School of Leshui town. The performance was operated one time in 10 consecutive days in different villages nearby, which was well welcomed by local villagers.

I was deeply impressed with the situation of Litoudong. On hearing the students would perform in their village, many villagers gathered together after sunset. All students started to make up and handle some other preparation work after eating dinner. Two bright gas lamps were hanged on the sides of the stage. Zeng Guiji who was the team leader of our propaganda team delivered a speech before the opening of the performance, and then tens of programs were shown to all audience successively. Most of the songs were with the theme of anti-Japanese. The drama which was operated in the end of the performance was about the story of anti-Japanese. After seeing the officer who was acted by me was killed by the anti-Japanese military, all audience clapped and shouted “wipe out the traitor to China”, “defeat Japanese imperialist”, and “win Anti-Japanese War”. The farmers highly praised our performance and stated that if all united, we would defeat the Japanese enemies.

We heard about the news of Japanese’s surrender in a night of August when we performed in Shaping village. All team members embraced each other and cried with joy. We fired the fireworks to celebrate the victory immediately.
