Zeng Xisheng (1909-1980) was born in Zixing City of Hunan Province. He joined the Chinese Communist Youth League in 1922 and the CPC in 1925. Throughout his life, he involved himself in the Northern Expedition (1926-1927), the fighting and battles in the Soviet areas of the CPC as well as the Long March. During the revolution wars, he held the posts of head secretary of CPC Jiangzhong Bureau, the chief of the Second Bureau of the Central Military Commission, the political commissar of the 7th Army belonging to the New Fourth Army, the Secretary of the Communist Party in Wanjiang District, the political commissar of the Eastern China Field Army, and the vice chief of staff of the Second Field Army. After the foundation of the new China, he worked as the first secretary of Anhui Provincial Committee, the first secretary of Shandong Provincial Committee, the second secretary of the Eastern China Bureau and the secretary of the secretariat of the Southwestern Bureau. He was also a member of the 8th CPC Central Committee.
