The county stretches along a narrow land of 1,979.4 square kilometers, accounting for 0.93% of the total area of Hunan Province. With plains scattered among the hills in the middle, Yongxing County is mountainous in the east and hilly in the west. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, G107 and S212 National Highways run through the county and the Bianjiang River in the upper reaches of Leishui River is open to navigation all the year round.

 

Yongxing County boasts beautiful scenery and bountiful tourism resources. Scenic spots already developed in the county include Bianjiang Scenic Area, People's Park, Former Residence of Huang Kecheng, Yuelai Hot Spring, Yindu Workshop (a national industrial tourism demonstration site acclaimed as China's Best Silver Workshop), Banliang Ancient Village (agri-tourism demonstration site of Hunan Province) and Shanshui Yindu Holiday Resort.
