Guidong County becomes Hunan’s most popular summer destination

The third Guidong County Wellness Summer Festival was held in Wanyang Mountain Scenic Area of Guidong County, Chenzhou City on August 27. The awarding ceremony for the most popular summer destinations in Hunan province in 2024 was also held.
Guidong County was approved as one of the top ten wellness summer destinations in the province, and Wanyang Mountain Scenic Area in Guidong County was selected as the most popular mountain wellness summer attraction.
Guidong is the highest county in Hunan province, with a forest coverage rate of 82% and an average summer temperature of only around 23 degrees Celsius. The average negative oxygen ion content in the county is 46,000 per cubic centimeter, with the highest instantaneous value reaching 150,000, making it an ideal destination for leisure, summer vacation, and tourism.
The county government is striving to be a comprehensive wellness mountain city and promote the development of new tourism formats such as wellness leisure, homestay inn and agricultural experience.
Now, there are 1,100 homestay inns in the county, making it a popular summer destination for tourists.
In Guidong County, tourists can wander on the grassland, watch the sunrise, sea of clouds and sunset glow at Wanyang Mountain Scenic Area. Leisure and vacation facilities like rainbow camp, alpine tianchi, clouds viewing platform and starry sky camp are available in the scenic area, making it the first choice for summer vacation in Guidong.
Tourists can live in Zhiqing Xiaozhai Homestay Inn and experience the educated youth culture. Zhiqing Xiaozhai is located in Dongshan Forest Farm of Dongluo Township, Guidong County.
It has an educated youth canteen, a dormitory, an outdoor expansion base and an outdoor science popularization study base. It’s a rural leisure tourism area that integrates industry study, team building and Party building, educated youth culture and education, rural leisure and homestay vacation.
Longxi Waterfall, one of the eight ancient views in Guidong County, is worth visiting. The waterfall is located in Longxi Village, Xinfang Township. It is 126 meters high and 36 meters wide during the flood season.
Guidong has been recognized by the Shanghai China Records Headquarters as the county with the highest content of negative ions, and the highest point of negative ion content was measured at Longxi Waterfall.
Tourists can also climb the Qing’e Mountain. Qing’e Mountain is located at the junction of Zhaiqian, Sidu, Datang and Shatian towns of Guidong County, 18 kilometers away from the county seat, with an elevation of 1,882 meters.
It’s a great place to enjoy nature, hike, watch the sea of clouds and sunrise.
