40 TEUs of photovoltaic glass exported to Vietnam by rail-sea intermodal train

2025-02-19

On February 18, 40 TEUs of photovoltaic glass from Chenzhou Kibing Photovoltaic Glass Co., Ltd. departed from the Chenzhou Land Port to Vietnam by the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal train.

This is the first export transaction of Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal transport this year. The through bill of lading was adopted for the sea-rail intermodal transportation, which can save 1 to 2 days of marshalling time for the enterprise.

For cargo shipped via regular trains, multiple times of train marshalling are required before the cargo can be delivered to the destination. Nowadays, the opening of rail-sea intermodal trains enables enterprises to directly transport goods from factories to Chenzhou Land Port. The goods can complete the entry within 12 hours.

Compared with traditional transportation modes, transportation costs can be saved by about 35%. In 2023, Chenzhou Kibing Photovoltaic Glass Co., Ltd. exported more than 2,300 containers by rail-sea intermodal train and saved nearly 5 million yuan in transportation costs.

The through bill of lading business for rail-sea intermodal transportation in Chenzhou Land Port has shown a rapid growth. As of now, a total of 1,654 TEUs have been shipped through the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal trains, with a value of approximately 28.6443 million US dollars. It is expected that the volume of goods transported through the through bill of lading for rail-sea intermodal transportation throughout the year will exceed 10,000 tons.

Next, Beihu District will make efforts to develop the container road-rail and rail-sea intermodal transport, and create stable and branded multimodal transport products, to further ensure the timeliness of enterprise logistics, reduce the cost of integrated logistics, and ensure the safety of goods.
