Guidong Bench Dragon performance

In 2013 “Cultural Heritage Day”, an intangible heritage performance was held by Chenzhou Media Group, which was purposed to propaganda the protection and inheritage of intangible culture and promote the folk culture of Chenzhou city. Guidong county’s “Bench Dragon” was selected as one of the programs in the performance.

Guidong “Bench Dragon” was a folk art with the features of Wushu, athletics and performance. Compared with some ordinary dragon dance of China, Guidong “Bench Dragon” dance was with more flexible performing forms. In order to improve the performance, a new folk skill of Guidong county-“Qianbian dance”was combined into this “Bench Dragon”. All those folk features with folk music of Guidong county granted “Bench Dragon” with the unique charm of Guidong county, which was loved and appreciated by people.
