Painting should be like rolling mountains and rivers, eulogizing the progress of the times, and always maintain the original nature of the heart." On November 8, Hunan Artists Association organized a number of artists to come to Shazhou Yao Village of Rucheng County to carry out a week-long activity of collecting and sketching from nature, which also marked the official launch of the "Double Villages" (Shibadong Village, Shazhou Village) fine creation project of Hunan Artists Association.

It was understood that in order to further implement the profound connotation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection of the spirit of the important speech in Hunan and implement the requirements of "going deep into life and taking root in the people", the Provincial Artists Association decided to start the "Double Villages" fine creation project. The project will organize a group of outstanding artists in the province to go to Shibadong Village and Shazhou Village to collect creative materials through on-the-spot investigation and experience of life, so as to create a batch of excellent works with historical significance and the spirit of the times, showing the new achievements, new appearance and new atmosphere of the local poverty alleviation. These achievements are expected to be showed in the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC next year.

Shi Gang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Provincial Artists Association, pointed out that from Shibadong Village in Western Hunan Province to Shazhou Village in Southern Hunan Province, from the concept of "targeted poverty alleviation" put forward in Shibadong Village seven years ago has spread rapidly across the country to the crucial moment of decisive battle for poverty alleviation, these two villages will leave a strong mark on China's journey towards great rejuvenation. For Hunan Artists, it is a creative material with the significance of the times. As painters, we must record and praise them with our own notes. When the Red Army was in Shazhou, the story of "half quilt" reflected the good situation of the army and the people, which warmed China. This year marked the 86th anniversary of the Red Army's Long March. As literary and art workers, we should review the history, go to the grassroots level, get close to life, understand the hardships and enrich the materials, so as to create works worthy of the times.
