On March 11, a sacrifice ceremony for Dragon Head-raising Day, which falls on the second day of the second lunar month, was organized by local residents in Huatang Township, Linwu County to pray for national prosperity, good luck, good weather, and abundant harvest.
The Loong is a symbol of the Chinese nation, representing auspiciousness, strength, and wisdom.
As an intangible cultural heritage item of Linwu County, the sacrifice ceremony is the liveliest folk activity in the village. It has a history of over 700 years and involves such activities as inviting dragons, worshiping dragons, parade and dragon dance.
