2024 Chenzhou Marathon kicks off

The 2024 Chenzhou Marathon kicked off at the Wuling Square at 7:30 am of November 10. Hou Zhihui, an Olympic champion born in Chenzhou, was the pacesetter in the race. 11,920 runners participated in it.

As the first A1 marathon race in Chenzhou, the Chenzhou Marathon consisted of a full marathon, a half marathon, and a happy run. It attracted domestic athletes from 31 provinces across the country, as well as foreign athletes from 7 countries including Kenya, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Russia, and France.

The track connected Wuling Avenue, Youth Avenue, Xihe Bridge, Hongxin Road, Fenghuang Bridge, landmark buildings such as the Municipal Sports Center and the Municipal Cultural and Art Center, as well as scenic areas such as Wangxian Ridge and Feitian Mountain, allowing every runner to admire the beautiful scenery and experience the vitality of the city while challenging themselves.

After more than two hours of intense competition, Jonah Kipkemoi Chesum from Kenyan won the men’s full marathon. Liang Wenxue from Guangxi and Li Dongxing from Hunan won the second and third place respectively.

Xiao Yan from Hunan won the women’s full marathon. Dong Yunyun from Guangdong, and Chen Zhiwen from Hunan won the runner up and third place respectively.
