Jiangyuan reservoir dam project

Jiangyuan reservoir dam, the first key water resource project, was fulfilled on November 28, 2012 aided by tobacco industry in Hunan province. The completion ceremony was held on the same day. The reservoir dam project which was located in the upper stream of Chenjiang river with 397 million yuan investment takes 6 years to be completed.

The 70 meters high reservoir dam is about 29.6kms from Chenzhou city. It covers 49.3 square meters of rain collection areas and 1.027 million cubic meters of capacity. As a medium-sized comprehensive water conservancy project with the functions of flood control, irrigation, ecology and tourism, Jiangyuan reservoir dam helped to upgrade the flood control standard of Chenzhou central city from 50 years a time to 100 years a time.

Meanwhile, the downstream of Jiangyuan reservoir is a key tobacco producing area. Thanks to this reservoir, the insufficient water supply problems of irrigated area of Sixing reservoir were finally solved to meet the irrigation demand of Beihu district and Guiyang County and improve the water condition in this area as well. This reservoir will also provide a strong support for the further development of tobacco industry and green ecological agricultural industry.

It was learned that Jiangyuan reservoir dam project was started on Demember 15, 2006, but it was suspended in January, 2010 for some reasons. Chendian International Group was confirmed to the new owner of this project in June 2010. Later, the project was granted with national tobacco subsides of 166.8 million yuan and was continued on October 16, 2011.

Xiang Lili- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee remarked in the completion ceremony that though the project had been successfully finished with the efforts of all staff, its follow-up project construction and management still can’t be loosened. The fine project should be ensured to withstand the inspection of time and practice to become the landmark project of national tobacco subsidies for water source engineering, the demonstration project of Chenzhou water conservancy construction history.

Some principals and cadres from China Tobacco Company and Hunan province and Chenzhou municipal leaders were present at the completion ceremony.
