Strategy 5: Create Leisure Tourism Destination in the GBA

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area covers an area of 56000 square kilometers, with a population of 66 million. The economic development of the region has reached the level of middle developed countries, and there are many middle and high-income people. Various types of travel have become an important part of people's life.

 

In 2017, Chenzhou City received 205,100 and 53,900 tourists from Hong Kong and Macao respectively, with tourism revenue of US $89.799 million and US $23.359 million respectively; it received about 13 million tourists from Guangdong, accounting for 22 percent of the total number of tourists in the city. During the golden week in 2018, the number of tourists from the GBA to Chenzhou reached more than 20000 in Hong Kong alone, an increase of about 40 percent year on year. The GBA has a huge tourism market and is the main tourist source of Chenzhou City. In 2018, it was rated as the "favorite global tourism destination" by Cantonese with the highest vote.

 

The construction of the GBA will be upgraded to a national development strategy, which will bring a new round of development climax to the bay area, and the tourism industry will enter another golden development period. Relying on the "favorite" advantage of Cantonese, Chenzhou has built a leisure tourism destination in the GBA. and arranged the systematic layout of product development, publicity and marketing, infrastructure supporting, etc. through the preparation of the overall planning for the construction of leisure tourism destinations in the GBA.
