The former site of the "half a quilt" story is located in Shazhou Village, a civilized Yao nationality township. This is a two-story brick and wood structure building, which is a typical representative of rural architecture in Rucheng County, and belongs to the architectural style of southern Hunan. In early November 1934, after breaking through the second blockade line, the Central Red Army went to the Department of Civilization to take a rest, and the Ministry of Health was stationed in Shazhou Village. Three Red Army women stayed at Xu Jiexiu's home. When they left, they saw that Xu Jiexiu didn't even have a decent quilt, so they gave Xu Jiexiu their only quilt. Xu Jiexiu refused to accept it, so the female Red Army cut the quilt in half and gave half to Xu Jiexiu. Xu Jiexiu said: "What is the Communist Party? The Communist Party is a person who has a quilt and has to cut half of it for the common people."
