Doushuai krast cave

Doushuai island which looks like a giant lion crouched on the water surface is one of the biggest islands of Dongjiang Lake. The splendid Doushuai krast cave which is with about 2.7million year history is the most famous scenery of the island. Tall, big, deep, wide and amazing are its features. It is about 5000meters deep. The widest part is about 70meters wide and 40meters high. On travelling the twists and turns cave, different stalactites are presented to visitors, which enables people feel like in a dreamland.

“Thousands caves are similar, but this cave is unique.” Rodo Ken who was the American cave experts investigated the cave in 1993 and said: “Visitors can enjoy all sceneries available in other caves, and can enjoy the unique scenery especially for this cave as well. It is a rare large krast cave worth your visit.” It was honored as “the nature’s maze”. The stalagnates available there are very big and the tallest one is 36meters high which is also the largest one in the world. Many visitors traveled to Doulv island after reading Xie Yan’s “Doulv stone” of “records of famous mountains of China”. An ancient wood and brick temple which was called Doulv Temple was built in front of the cave. According to the record, the temple was built in the 51th year of Qianlong Empire of Qing Dynasty (1786) and worshipped some Gods of Taoism; and some more Gods were served in the temple in the following years of Qing Dynasty. Because of the krast cave and the temple, many visitors including some poets were attracted there and presented some poems to memorize their excellent trips there.
