Chenzhou City vigorously implemented the water ecological civilization construction project. Chenzhou has focused on the comprehensive implementation of river system, sewage treatment in key market towns in rural areas and the construction of Water Conservancy Scenic Spots in Hehu Reservoir, implemented river and lake health project, promoted river dredging, barrier clearing and bank protection construction; carried out river cleaning actions, and implemented comprehensive treatment of rural water source environment.

Chenzhou City has focused on the construction of water ecological landscapes such as Chenjiang River, Tongxin River, West Lake, Luoxian Lake and Dongbo Reservoir, and the construction of Water Conservancy Scenic Spots such as Xihe River and Cuijiang River, as well as the development of Chenjiang River and Xihe River within the "big cross town group" of Chenzhou Avenue and Chenyong Avenue Tongxin River, Yuxi River, Zhongshui River, Leixi Reservoir, Dongpo Reservoir and other water ecological landscape construction; within the scope of the whole city, Dongjiang River, Bianjiang River, Cuijiang River, Chongling River, Wujiang River, Chenjiang River, Xihe River, Yongle River and other water landscapes have been constructed. By 2020, the city will realize the comprehensive supervision of river and lake protection, river sand mining, water area and shoreline protection, complete the full coverage of river cleaning in all counties and urban areas of the city, maintain the health and recuperation of rivers and lakes, and create 4 National Water Conservancy Scenic Spots and 6 provincial Water Conservancy Scenic Spots.
