Chenzhou has consistently adhered to green development, built an eco-environmental circular economy system, and become a model city of Hunan circular economy. Shizhuyuan mining area covers 35 kilometers, with a total investment of more than 70 million yuan. In the Donghe River Basin, the project of river control, soil erosion control and mine green restoration has been continuously implemented, and the mining area has been built into a "World Nonferrous Metals Museum" and mine park.

The beauty of Chencheng is not only created by nature, but also cultivated meticulously. In recent years, Chenzhou's finance expenditure in the field of people's livelihood accounted for 77.6 percent of the general public budget expenditure.

In order to improve the quality of urban and rural environment, Chenzhou City has adhered to five modernizations of "beautify, afforest, purify, brighten and orderly", continued to carry out comprehensive renovation actions of city appearance and urban and rural environmental sanitation, and created "a clean and orderly city" and "a beautiful and livable city".

In order to provide a comfortable living environment for the citizens, Chenzhou has comprehensively promoted the projects of "two supplies and two governance", "two bedrooms and two sheds", "urban double repair", urban comprehensive pipe gallery, transformation of agricultural trade market, garbage collection and treatment, and started the recycling of construction waste and kitchen waste. 182 alleys and 32 farmer's markets have been improved, and the disposal rate of sewage sludge up to standard and the harmless treatment rate of domestic waste have reached 100 percent.
