Beihu district was the second stop of the special report for “Trans-Chenzhou ecology trip & Establishment of national forest city”.Beihu district was located in the central area of Chenzhou city. It was just an ecological protective barrier for south of China, but also a key forestry area of Hunan province. By handling series measures as comprehensive renovation for the villages’ environment, channel greening, and etc., Beihu district tried best to be a new ecological civilized area.

Beihu district- livable and ecological new rural area

It was introduced by Xia Jurong- one of the villagers of Sanhe village that the villagers there were used to throw the rubbish everywhere. The town distributed 3 rubbish bins to every family of the village in 2013, and facilitated every group with one or two refuse hoppers. Equipped with these facilities, villagers were get used not to throw the rubbish.
But the village faced a new problem that how to dispose the rubbish?

20million yuan was placed by Beihu district to handle the comprehensive renovation of environment of 7 villages in 2011. The working groups worked together with the villages to collect 250,000yuan to build a new garbage incinerator by seizing this chance. When reporters arrived there, the new incinerator had been placed to operation for one month and the garbage from 5 villages and groups were disposed well by it.

Now, Sanhe village became clearer and more beautiful. Some ecological villas, vegetable sightseeing gardens, and etc. were established there, which helped to improve the village’s tourism industry and increase people’s income.

Xiaobu ancient village of Baohe town followed a new method to renovate its environment condition- reconstructed its sewage line system.

Besides handling rain and sewage diversion, Xiaobu village helped to upgrade most families’ pit toilets to water-out type toilets.

More efforts would be tried on the comprehensive renovation of 49 administrative villages along Chenzhou Avenue in Beihu district in 2014. A 23kms long ecological gallery along Xihe river would be launched in this June as well.

Beihu district: different sceneries along the greening channels

When reporters drove from high speed train station to Chenzhou Avenue, a vertical planting scenery with the theme of “Linyi (forest city)” was available, which impressed the visitors with the greening image of Chenzhou city.

Though reporters arrived there in April, not so many flowers bloomed in that season, they were still surprised for the greening sceneries along Chenzhou Avenue.

Besides Chenzhou Avenue, the upgrading project for the greening work of some arterial roads as Xiarong expressway, Jinggangao expressay, Beihu section of 107 national road, and etc. were handled out well, which granted the district with green views.
