On June 20, the working conference of 2012 foreign affair, Oversea Chinese affairs, Hongkong and Macao affairs was held in Chenzhou city.

It was pointed out in the conference that the key goal for the next step working of foreign affairs, Oversea Chinese affairs, Hongkong and Macao affairs was “promoting foreign affairs, intensifying oversea Chinese affairs, highlighting Hongkong and Macao affairs. The functional role of alien work should be maximized for Chenzhou’s construction of “two-oriented city”. Now the key points for the work are the following six projects: establishing a platform, contacting with a batch of friendly cities, introducing some projects, forging an opening-wide channel, building an association, and organizing a training.

Deputy Director of Hunan Overseas Chinese Affairs office- Li Lixi affirmed the achievements made by departments of overseas affairs to carry out the overseas work creatively. Next step, the overseas affairs work should be promoted actively to the deep cooperation with local economy and social development. New forms of international communication also should be forged to carry out the overseas affairs in a new period. CCP’s overseas affairs should be opened wider; Chinese culture especially Hunan province or local culture should be boasted to upgrade the international influence of Hunan culture; and the management working concerned for foreign affairs, oversea Chinese and HongKong and Macao affairs should be intensified.

Mao Tengfei- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee affirmed Chenzhou government’s oversea affairs working, and pointed out that there was great potential for working better on the oversea affairs under the new international trend and Chenzhou’s development. Space for oversea affairs to propel economy and social development should be extended. Advantages of neighboring Hongkong and Macao to forge the economy and trade cooperation platform should be exerted; the conclusion of friendly cities should be speeded up, achieving the conclusion of a breakthrough to the first municipal friendly city. Communication channels such as the “free walker”for Chenzhou-Hongkong-Macao, combined transport of sea and train, roads checkpoints, and international express logistic center should be improved and opened earlier.

Mao also emphasized that all the oversea affairs should be undertaken on the basis of people’s profit and the service quality should be improved. Procedures for enterprises and individuals to go abroad should be further simplified, meanwhile right protection for the oversea Chinese should be upgraded, and overseas communications should be intensified by finding new models as establishment of joint association of overseas students and fellow countrymen association, etc.. Furthermore, cooperation areas should be expanded to economy and trade, education, culture and technology to upgrade Chenzhou city’s international influence. Besides, owing to oversea affairs working with strong political-related, policy-related and foreign-related characteristics, its leadership, cohesion force should be strengthened and working ability and level improved.

Deputy Director of Chenzhou Municipal People’s Conference Standing Committee- Li Xiping hosted the conference; Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou City- Li Ting delivered the working report on foreign affairs, oversea Chinese affairs, Hongkong and Macao affairs; and Deputy Chairman of Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC- Li Xuelian attended this conference.
