On June 8, the working conference onTaiwan affairs was held in Chenzhou, conveying the spirits of central, provincial government and the requirements of municipal committee on Taiwan affairs to carry out the relative work. The Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Parry Committee- Mao Tengfei stated in the meeting that Chenzhou should seize the chance to enforce the communication with Taiwan and upgrade its working level.He also urged that efforts must be made to continue promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and the building of cross-Strait exchange mechanism by grasping new opportunities and dealing with new challenges, thus improving Hunan's work on Taiwan affairs in a comprehensive way.

Recent years, different delegations have been organized by Chenzhou municipal leaders to Taiwan to discuss the mutual cooperation on economy & trade, agriculture, education, tourism. Especially the seventh “Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade” was held in Chenzhou in 2011, which ranked the first level session among the earlier ones with the top quantity of signed contracts and investment capital. Chenzhou seized the chance to construct the cooperation platform as Taiwan Industrial park, which attracted a batch of Taiwan businessmen’s investment into Chenzhou. Now the areas and scales concerned with Taiwan investment become wider in Chenzhou. Chenzhou is one of the major cities in regard to Taiwan affairs nationwide, not only with the unique resources for working on Taiwan affairs, but also with tremendous potentials in carrying out scientific and educational exchanges and economic and trade cooperation. There are 11 cities and counties of Chenzhou with the cooperation with Taiwai on manufacture, electronics, agriculture, commerce, logistic, real estate, etc.. Furthermore, Chenzhou becomes one of the important tourism and investment destinations for Taiwan businessmen with the receipt of Taiwanese 600, 700, 1000 visits in the recent three years separately.

Mao Tengfei made an affirmation on Taiwan affairs in previous year and said that the Taiwan affairs were greatly concerned with the peaceful development on cross-strait, and the incumbent political responsibility for all the departments. Mao stated that we should attach more importance on grasping the rules and characteristics of the work on Taiwan affairs by making use of our city resources fully, and actively carrying out cross-strait economic and trade cooperation and communications. We should also further implement in-depth the spirit of the meeting around the central works so as to strive to do well on Taiwan affairs this year. Chenzhou government should increase the strength on Taiwan affairs working to get policy chance like ECFA successor negotiating policies, and other chances like Hunan-Taiwan direct airline and Hunan undertaking industrial transfer to intensify the investment measures, and introduce some more Taiwan enterprises and projects. Chenzhou government should consolidate and enlarge the seventh “Hunan-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade” achievements to keep the tight connection with Taiwan businessmen and practice all potential projects into real operation. Chenzhou government should make a better service for the cooperation, take full advantage of its contacts, culture, and natural resources to expand the communication channel and form its unique characteristics to improve the contacts on culture, technology, education, economy & trade.

Liao Yuegui- the member of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee standing Committee, Director of Chenzhou Municipal Ministry of Organization, Principal of Chenzhou Municipal United Front Work Department presided the conference.
