Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC took a special inspection on Chenzhou urban and rural afforestation working. Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou city accompanied the inspection team leaded by the president of Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC- Chen Shezhao.

After visiting Shiliuwan ecological park, Heping village, Hunan Dongxu Gardening Co., Ltd, Bamboo garden of Chenzhou road, Xihe beach garden, Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway station, etc. with the principals of road, transportation, forestry, water conservancy, fiscal, city management, and agriculture office, the members of Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC affirmed the greening work carried out by Chenzhou government. They said, guided by the goal of creating “forest Chenzhou” and “national level garden city”, Chenzhou government propelled the greening work forcefully, increased the forest coverage and created a new image for Chenzhou.

Years of efforts to improve the ecological environment, such as tree planting and irrigation, have helped suppress the desertification of sandstorms. It is proved that Chenzhou has contributed much to improvement of the environment, whose achievement is also a major boost for global efforts to combat climate change. But it is also noted that forest coverage in Chenzhou is still low, and so more afforestation efforts are needed. During the inspection, members of Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC stated that departments at all levels should keep enhancing measures, opening up wider, refreshing new concepts to further propel the greening work and help to upgrade a new image of Chenzhou . They also addressed that the next step of Chenzhou should focus on the greening work of three-dimensional greening, water system, village, and stony desertification and purple land to increase the urban and rural afforestation level; should pay more attention to the management and protection work to confirm the greening quality; should intensify the supervision and propaganda of greening work; and should innovate a new mechanism to enforce fire prevention, avoid deforestation, and strengthen forest resources protection.

Since the mobilization meeting for Chenzhou urban and rural greening work in the following three years, 9248.5mu village greening areas with 4.11 million plantlets, and 2349.6mu urban greening areas with 7.22 million plantlets have been finished, and greening work on barren mountains, main roads, water systems have hit the stage goals, all of which granted the- three -year greening work with a good start.
