72 new public buses were placed to operation on September 30, 2012 which greatly helped to make people’s daily life more convenient. 16 main roads of the 13 counties and towns were facilitated with new public buses, that is to say, in most main points of the county, people now can easily take buses.

That is one parts of Jiahe county’s “100 well-being projects”. The government planned to build an integrated public bus system of urban and rural areas to share achievements with people. In order to reach the goal, the government reset public bus lines and obsolete former private buses step by step. That is to say all the buses will be transformed to be state -owned by upgrading their services with specified and united regulations.

There were about 23 million yuan collected to fulfill this public bus system. The newly operated 13 public lines nearly cover about 87% administrative villages, central primary and middle schools of the whole county. To further benefit people, the public ticket fees decreases at the same time; especially for the elder people, public service soldiers and disabled people, who can be totally free now.

This new system was highly appraised by people for it enabled them with a more convenient and easy life. Liao Xingyun- Vice Government Official of Jiahe county introduced their future plans to reporters: along with the development of economy and society and the upgrading of roads, Jiahe county will keep expanding the public bus system. Now 26 new lines have been planned to start the construction. According to the plan, more than 1000 villagers can be able to take public buses within one year.

The relative link: urban & rural integration of Jiahe county

From 2010, on the basis of local practical conditions, Jiahe county firstly listed out urban & rural integration targets in Hunan province, such as the water supply, social public security, public bus, social deliverance, medical treatment and public health, education, etc.. The government is trying their best to fulfill all these targets with 3-5 years and enable all people can share social improvement achievements. It was named as one of the four “urban & rural integration demonstration counties” of Hunan province in 2011 and was highly affirmed by Hunan provincial leaders and some relative leaders for the good jobs.
