It was learned from Hunan Forestry Ministry that Zixing was classified as a national pilot county of sustainable management on forest resources.

The pilot of sustainable management on forest resources was one of the most important workflow deployments of the State Forestry Bureau. It will focus on five key tasks like figuring out county level of forest management plans, well implementing the management plan, further deepening the forest cutting management plan, exploring more operation models, and improving international cooperation. Till now, Zixing city has worked out the county level of sustainable management plans of forest resources and they will be submitted to the approval of relative experts. According to the work of afforestation plan, cultivation, retreatment, cutting, management, protection, etc. were specified clearly. Zixing city will try to fulfill the pilot work at the end of 2015.

Zixing city will cultivate a series of demonstration villages and forests and explore sustainable management models and mechanisms to combine long-term interests with short-term interests and combine economical development with ecological protection by handling this pilot work.
