Afforestation project team of Guidong County seizes chance to plant trees in favorable seasons

When arriving at Guidong County, reporters witnessed that afforestation team was busy planting trees in urban and rural areas, which marked that “forest Guidong” project had been officially launched in Guidong county. This “forest Guidong” project was carried out by Guidong county government to implement “the outline of constructing a green Hunan” and a “forest Chenzhou”.

From the beginning of this winter, Guidong County was actively handling the construction of establishing a “national forest city” and “ecological Guidong”. It was planned to meet the standard of “national forest city” in 2014, which means that the forest coverage rate needs reach 85% and the forest stock volume should be more than 5 million cubic meters; the greening coverage ratio of urban areas should be up to 43% and the average park area of the central city has to be more than 11 square meters; the afforestation work should be fulfilled surrounding villages, roads, banks of rivers and houses; the greening rate of concentrated living villages, roads and other main ways and banks of rivers should be over 35%, 85% and 85% separately, while the participation rate of voluntary trees planting activity should be over 85%.
