Environmental improvement of Suxian district section of national road 107

It was hard to drive on Suxian district section of national road 107 for some poultries, children and large trucks would appear on the road suddenly or stop on the road.
Some canchas, restaurants, car washing stations, temporary houses, etc. were established along this national road which made the traffic condition there too complicated, even more traffic accidents happened frequently.

In order to improve the national road’s condition, a special action of environmental improvement of Suxian district section of national road 107 was carried out in the district from August 5, 2013.

How about the effects after one month’s hardworking? In order to get the answer, the reporters started a travel along this road recently.

Wang Huaihua- one of the villagers of Shitang village, Liangtian town said: I pulled down my pigsty on the road side.

Wang Huaihua’s pigsty was built about one meter from the national road 107 20 years ago. In the earlier days, he usually lived near this pigsty. But because of the accident happened in 5 years which near broke his pigsty, he dared not live there.

In the morning of September 3, 2013, Wang waked up earlier and went to his pigsty to help the workers hired by the government to pull down his pigsty. Such kind of clearance of illegal buildings along national road 107 was one of the key workings for the environmental improvement action carried out by Suxian district.

Liangtian town’s Farmers’ Market is a comprehensive market in the town. Every market-day, ten-thousand people gathered here. But because it can’t hold so many people in such small market space, many vendors set their booth in the national road instead, which greatly affect the influent traffic condition of the road. Enhance management measures and the expansion and upgrading of the Farmers’ Market were handled out by Liangtian town to highly improve national road’s condition.

Li Qijin- a boss of one of the car washing stations of Matouling town closed his station and would take new job with the assistance of government

Li Qijin closed his car washing stations near national road 107 recently which was established 13 years ago. It was really a hard decision for him, because that was his exclusive way to earn money. But with the help of the government, he may find a new job in some enterprises and hotels, so he finally agreed to close it.

The key reason to close these car washing stations was the potential traffic accidents which would happen on the process of the huge lorry trucks stay on the road to add water and wash cars.

Because it was a very easy way for the owners of car washing stations to reopen their stations, the government discussed with some enterprises and hotels to hire the owners to get some new jobs there to avoid the owners would reopen the stations.

Till now, 7 of the ten stations in this village have been pulled down, and the rest three were on clearance process.

Yang Renping- one of the owners of fish meal restaurants in Xifengdu along the national road 107 said: we would start our business in a new place in Folk Street

If you went to Xifengdu town in earlier days, you might see the scenery that hundred people gathered in the so called “fish meal street” to enjoy their breakfast and lunch there. This “fish meal street” was along national road 107.

But when reporters arrived there on September 3, 2013, this kind of street disappeared and was replaced by a parking slot.
Yang Renping- one of the owners of fish meal restaurants in this street said it would be more comfortable to do business under an ordered condition. It was introduced that a Folk Street project was under planning, which would be a good choice for the restaurants’ owners to start their new businesses there.

Li Shizhu- Deputy Chief of Xifengdu stated that besides the regulation actions, some more improvement measures as decoration of stores in the town were handled out at the meantime. It was planned to carry out Folk Street project in near future, once finished 300-400 stores were available there, so the fish meals and other local featured food restaurants can be settled there accordingly.

Furthermore, beautification and greening work were carried out in Suxian district section of national road 107. More green trees, street lights, and better store decorations were available along this road, which granted a new image of the road.

It was introduced that this kind of environmental improvement work would be handled out in a long term to ensure all achievements to be kept and maintained.
