Establishing national demonstration city of ecological civilization in 7-8 years

Recently, a promotion conference of ecological civilization construction & establishment of national forest city was held in Chenzhou city. According to the file “solution of further promotion of ecological civilization construction”(short for “the solution”) issued by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government on the conference, Chenzhou city would try to establish national demonstration city of ecological civilization in 7-8 years.

On the basis of practical condition of Chenzhou city, “the solution”listed some key tasks for the promotion of the ecological civilization construction, especially focusing on the construction of four systems as ecological nature, ecological industry, livable city and ecological culture.

According to “the solution”, till the end of 2015, the city’s forest coverage rate should be 66.2%; urban green coverage be over 44%; downtown and county sewage treatment rate be more than 85%; urban and rural garbage treatment rate be 90% and 75% separately; qualified surface water rate be over 95%; qualified excellent air condition rate be 80%; major pollutants emission reduction should meet Hunan provincial task; and satisfaction rate of ecological civilization construction be over 85%. Higher targets were set for 2020 as required by “the solution”, such as forest coverage rate should be 68%; urban green coverage be over 45%; downtown and county sewage treatment rate be more than 95%; urban and rural garbage treatment rate be 100% and 95% separately; qualified surface water rate be over 98%; qualified excellent air condition rate be 90%; major pollutants emission reduction should meet Hunan provincial task; and satisfaction rate of ecological civilization construction be over 90%. And most important task was to establish the national demonstration city of ecological construction successfully then.

Followed with the tasks set in “the solution”, some projects would be carried out accordingly to meet the demands of the four systems construction mentioned above.
