Chenzhou Pays Closer Attention on Ethnic and Religious Work

It was reported the leading group meeting of Chenzhou city’s ethnic and religious work was held on October 25, 2013.

 

It was introduced that about 42 minorities as Yao, She, Miao, Dong, Hui, etc. were settled in Chenzhou city. 13 minority towns are for Yao minority. Concerning for religion, about 0.45 million religious people of five major religions as Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Catholicism and Islam were available in Chenzhou city.

 

In recent years, with the efforts tried by the departments of ethnic and religious issues in Chenzhou city, many achievements were reached in Chenzhou city. Around 12.68 million yuan funds were collected for handling 89 projects to promote the ethnic areas social and economical development. Sound work was handled on the religious management to keep the stable condition of society. Rapid development was realized in the 13 minority towns, enabling rural net per capita income to be 4596 yuan for the people there, 3 times more compared in 2005.

 

Liu Hesheng- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee highly affirmed the work handled out on the ethnic and religious issues. Liu required that all departments should further upgrade the awareness of importance on ethnic and religious work. Enhanced measures for ethnic and religious work should be carried out to keep the stability of society. More development ideas should be figured out to improve the development of the minority areas.
