It was learned from the scheduling conference of 2014 annual solution on technology guidance for national key supporting lakes & ecological protection work for lakes that the ecological protection for Dongjiang Lake well met the stage goals of its general planning.

Dongjiang Lake was listed as one of the national pilots for lakes’ ecological protection in July 2012 and also listed as one of the national key supporting lakes in 2014. 78 projects on 5 categories of governance of pollution sources, recovery and protection of ecological condition, regulated construction on drinking water sources, and investigation of ecological safety and upgrading of environmental monitoring were placed with 1.98billion yuan investment.

66 projects were listed on 2012-2014 annual solution. Till now, 7 ones have been finished and 18 ones were under construction, which accounted for over 101million yuan investment. By implementing the ecological protection measures, water quality of the first-class conservation area of Dongjiang Lake was kept to meet Class-II standard of surface water, while main indicators of second-class conservation area’s was better than Class-II standard. At the meantime, ecosystem and diversified variation of lakes were upgraded greatly, less rubbishes were available in the surface of the lakes, the water quality of the blind ends of lakes was improved better, and eutrophication of some water areas were controlled efficiently.

15 national key supporting lakes’s working reports were delivered on the conference.

Zhang Shibao- Deputy Director of Account Department of the State Ministry of Environmental Protection, Zheng Binghui- Vice President of Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Peng Xiang- Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Ministry of Environmental Protection and Zhang Aiguo- Member of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee and Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou City attended the conference.
