Verification team for establishment of national forest city arrived at Chenzhou city for final inspection

It was learned that the national verification team for establishment of national forest city arrived at Chenzhou city for final inspection on June 25, 2014, which indicated that the “final-exam” for Chenzhou city’s establishment of national forest city started.

A briefing was held in that morning. Cheng Hong- team leader of the verification team for establishment of national forest city, spokesman of State Forestry Bureau and Director of Propaganda Department of State Forestry Bureau, and Wu Jianbo- associate inspector of Hunan Forestry Ministry attended the briefing and delivered speeches there. Xiang Lili-Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee addressed a speech on the briefing. Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City hosted the briefing.

City forest was covered into the master plan of Chenzhou city by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government after suffering ice disaster in 2008. Series ecological plans as “master plan for Chenzhou city’s establishment of national forest city (2011-2020)” were figured out by Chenzhou city and implemented well. Till the end of 2013, green coverage rate of urban area was 42.4% and the per capita green land areas were up to 11.08 square meters. The crown coverage rate of streets and tree crown coverage rate of ground parking lot were 26.25% and 33% respectively. 104 parks and gardens were established all over the urban area, 10 of which were with the areas over 20 hectares. All the parks and gardens were opened to public freely, which enabled the citizens to enjoy the greening leisure life by just stepping out their doors. Furthermore, forest growing stock was increased from 34million cubic meters to 48million cubic meters since 2008 ice disaster, which the forest coverage rate was up from 57.8% to 66%. A new patter of forest city was formed in Chenzhou city in the past years.

The verification team would handle following work in Chenzhou city: inspecting 40 indexes of the establishment of national forest city of Chenzhou city by five sub-teams; checking and evaluating the construction and effects of Chenzhou city’s establishment work, summarizing Chenzhou city’s working measures and methods, and guiding Chenzhou city to consolidate and perfect the establishment construction.

Xiang stated that it was a significant decision for Chenzhou city to establish the national forest city and all Chenzhou people were fighting for reach this goal with all their efforts. It was an important way to upgrade the city level and people’s living condition by handling this establishment work. Along with the checking and guiding work carried out by the verification team, Chenzhou city’s ecological civilization construction would be promoted greatly. Further work on the establishment of national forest city would be kept by Chenzhou city with the requirements listed by the team to promote the sustainable development of Chenzhou city.
