Followed the unified arrangement of the State Forestry Bureau and Hunan Provincial Forestry Ministry, Chenzhou city designated 251.898mu areas to be the state reserve forest and 23,726mu areas to be backup forest, which indicated that Chenzhou city fully finish the designated work of 2014. There were 23 main bodies for all these state reserve forests, including 16 state-owned forest farms of 10 counties and districts of Chenzhou city and 7 joint forest farms of 7 counties.

Among the reserve forests, 202,765mu was for state-owned forest, accounting for 80.5%; 49,133mu was for collectively owned forest, accounting for 19.5%; 68,446mu was for public forest, accounting for 27%; 191,592mu was for commercial forest, accounting for 76%; 46,114mu was for natural forest, accounting for 25.15; 112,459mu was for artificial Chinese fir forest, accounting for 45%; 26,143mu was for Chinese red pine forest, accounting for 10%, and etc.

In order to fulfill this designated work well, a special training was handled out by Chenzhou Forestry Bureau on this July 4. Leaders and business backbones from the 23 main bodies were called for attending this training. A leading group for the designated work of state reserve forest and construction of production base for strategic reserves of wood was established accordingly. Scientific working solution was figured out to handle relative work. At the meantime, enhanced supervision and guidance work was handled out in Chenzhou city. A sample survey for the designated working reports delivered by the 23 undertaking main bodies was carried out by Chenzhou project office, and all the checked reports were qualified.

It was an important measure to keep the safety of wood, perfect the forestry management system, and upgrade forestry management capacity by establishing the state reserve forest mechanism. It was also significant for Chenzhou city’s improvement of forest industry from fundamental establishment to comprehensive establishment by enhancing the construction of strategic reserve base of wood, establishing the state reserve forest mechanism and realizing the base-oriented production of wood and institutionalization of wood reserve.
