It was learned from medical reform office of Chenzhou city that from this January to August, 4.159million people joined in urban and rural residents’ critical illness insurance. Over 62.64million yuan was collected for the insurance. During this period, 4180people were compensated with 18.849million yuan from this insurance. This insurance greatly helped to ease the critical illness burden of the residents.

Chenzhou city launched the pilot work on urban and rural residents’ critical illness insurance from last July and issued a working solution accordingly. Critical illness insurance service centers were set in Chenzhou urban areas and the branches of 9 counties. The claims settlement windows were set there accordingly to provide “one-stop” service for people.

At the meantime, a management supervision committee which was constituted with some departments as supervision, finance, audit, human resources administration, sanitation, and etc., representatives of Chenzhou Municipal People’s Congress, Chenzhou CPPCC, and the insured, and some experts would check the raising, utilization and management of insurance funds irregularly and release the results to public. It was recorded that 255 person-times covered with 1.199million yuan was refused to pay and 216 person-times covered with 614,000yuan which were not reasonable hospitalization costs were deducted from this January to August.
