It was reported that Xihe river emergency water diversion project of Guiyang county successfully realized water taking on November 10, 2014. Till then, all the downtown of Guiyang county recovered to normal water supply.

It was learned that the rainfall of Guiyang county was less and uneven in 2014. In this summer, the north area of Guiyang county was with more rain while the south area was suffered from drought. Xiaojiashan water reservoir and Fangyuan water reservoir which are two water sources of the downtown of Guiyang county were located in the south area. Because of lacking of rain, both two water reservoirs’s storages were woefully inadequate. Compared with last year, the volume of water storage was over 7.7million cubic meters less. Fangyuan water reservoir which is located in the high region of Guiyang county can only be capable to supply the water till the middle of this November. Guiyang county was encountered with sever water supply situation.

On October 22, 2014, Guiyang county decided to place 11.82million yuan on the emergency water diversion project of Shaping section of Xihe river. The project was carried out immediately on October 23, 2014. Just 18 days, 2 pump houses and 5400 meters long pipes for 5 sections were finished, which successfully helped to lift the water. The daily water supply capacity of 30,000-40,000 cubic meters was greatly ease the tensed water supply situation for over 200,000 residents of the downtown of Guiyang county.

Guiyang county took positive actions to face the intense water supply condition, it figured out and launched city water supply emergency plan beforehand. From 00:00 of Oct. 17, it carried out limited water supply solution. Some industries as car washing, scouring bath, and etc were cut off water supply, some engineering projects were with less water supply, and greening and sanitary work was prohibited to take tap-water. At the meantime, some petrol teams were dispatched to check the waterway, and some professional maintenance staffs were sent out to check and fix the water pipes and valves, which helped to avoid man-made water waste situation. Furthermore, the county handled out some other measures as clearance of channels, control of water, artificial precipitation, and etc. to introduce and reserve more water. Thanks to all the measures, Xiaojiashan water reservoir increased the storage 20,000-40,000 cubic meters everyday, which helped to win some more time to handle the Xihe river emergency water diversion project.
