He required that basic water supply and drinking water safety should be guaranteed

It was reported that Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City investigated Shanhe Water Plant and some water points in the afternoon of Jan. 6, 2015 to investigate the urban area’s water supply work. Qu stated that basic water supply and drinking water safety should be guaranteed by scientific scheduling, exploring potentialities, increasing income and reducing expenditure.

Due to less rainfall in earlier period in 2014, Shanhe Water Reservoir’s water level dropped rapidly which caused insufficient hydraulic pressure of the plant and abnormal usage of water for some residents who live in the end of the water supply line. In order to solve the water supply problem, Chenzhou city took the best advantage of Small Dongjiang Water Plant’s production capacity and some other water source projects around urban area to explore the water sources and expand processing capability. At the meantime, temporary water carriage service was provided for the communities that lacking of hydraulic pressure. It also regulated the public water management on municipal administration, gardens, and etc. Enhanced pipe network petrol and maintenance was carried out by Chenzhou city as well. Currently, the living water supply for urban area’s residents has been recovered.

Qu Hai and his investigation team visited Shanhe Water Plant and some water points, listened to the reports delivered by the water plant, investigated the facilities of water taking projects, inflow projects and water transport and distribution projects on site, and learned some difficulties and problems happened on the working process.

Qu emphasized that water supply is a big deal of well-being concerned for all people’s profit, so all relative departments should pay great attention on it and work together by playing its specific responsibilities to ensure residents’ normal water usage, and should carry out scientific scheduling for Siqing Water Reservior and other water source projects to guarantee the normal water supply of urban area. The governments of Beihu and Suxian district should well handle the protection and sanitary work for water sources and areas around water network and should enhance water and soil conservation work to ensure the water safety of the water sources. Concerned for the construction projects which would affect the water quality of water sources and rivers should give way for the water safety by suspending the construction work. The meteorological department should make use of all chances to enhance the artificial rainfall in water sources. Water Supply Company should enhance the protection and governance of pipe network and strengthen the service awareness especially well handle the water supply service for some areas faced with more difficulties of water supply. The departments of environment protection and sanitary should well carry out the water quality monitoring work to grant people with safe water supply.
