It was learned from Chenzhou Water Supply Company on January 9, 2015 that the normal water supply of Chenzhou urban area was recovered. It kept their words for all citizens.
As introduced, because of the El Nino climate, Chenzhou city was with less rainy days compared with earlier year. According to the statistic, the mean annual precipitation of Chenzhou central urban area in 2014 was just 1073.5mm which was 429.9mm less than earlier years, especially for last September and October which was 66% and 91% less than earlier years. Due to the sharp decrease of rain, the water level of Shanhe Water Reservoir dropped more rapidly, which caused the unnormal water supply for the high-lying and high-floor users who were covered in the water supply area of Shanhe Water Plant- one of the nine water plants of Chenzhou urban area from last December 29.
It was introduced by Lei Zhong- General Manager of Chenzhou Water Supply Company that in order to solve current water usage problems faced by some residents, the company carried out series measures as follow: first, it enhanced water transfer work and took more active work to explore new water sources. The water was transferred from Siqinghu Water Reservoir and Wangxian Lake to the water plants of urban area, which helped to supplement 45,000tons water to urban area every day. Second, it strengthened the operation of other water companies that all the machines were operated at full load to ensure the water flow and water pressure. Third, it enhanced the maintenance of water supply network and strictly investigated and treated the behaviors of getting water from fire hydrants and waste of water. Fourth, it provided the temporary water carriage service for the users who was still suffered with the small water volume and low water pressure. “We just got three calls for water carriage today and all three have been delivered to the destination. Now, the water usage of urban area residents is back to normal.” Lei Zhong stated the company would extend the service to limit the water usage problems of the residents who live in the high elevation area by providing technological guidance of twice pressing, maintenance and change of second assistance devices and the company would try best to avoid the water usage problems to happen repeatedly.
Concerned for the question of“diverting Dongjiang lake’s water to urban area” which was listed by some residents, Lei said: “Dongjiang lake’s diversion project is a significant measure which is aimed to meet Chenzhou city’s ‘two cities’construction demands and is an important well-being project which can help to solve the production and domestic water problem of Chenzhou city primarily. The project was covered with 1.2billion yuan investment. Its scale of water supply is 400,000tons/day in the near future ( 1million tons/day at a specified future date). Currently, all the capitals have been in place. The project was launched on September 28, 2014 and was estimated to be placed to operation in 2017. Till then, all residents in Chenzhou urban area can be served with the water from Dongjiang lake.”
