It was reported that a “tea industry” training course for new professional peasants was opened in Qiaotou town, Guidong county on January 9, 2015. The course was sponsored by Guidong Agricultural Bureau and undertaken by Guidong Vocational Education Center. 50 tea planters were enrolled as the first batch students of the course.
The training course which would last for 7 days was specialized for the production and operation course. Reclamation, plantation and production management of tea garden, harvest, processing, packing and marketing of tea, some theoretical knowledge about new agriculture management system, ecological environment, new rural construction and so on were set for the course. Wen Haitao- Professor of Hunan Agricultural University was hired to give lectures on the roughcast and innovation of black tea for the trainees.
Once the course finished, all trainees should attend a theory test and would be issued with a course-completion certificate after the assessment, hence they would become the first batch of new peasants. Some professional agricultural specialists would provide follow-up training service as site instruction for them on the basis of farming season, which was purposely to upgrade the peasants’ professional skills.
