In people’s mind, the food price would keep rising when Spring Festival was coming. But this year, after an on-site investigation taken by reporters in some supermarkets and farmers’ markets, that rising situation did not happen even people bought more foods compared with ordinary days. 2-yuan vegetable is still available in the market, the meat price is almost the same as last month and some streaky pork with skin is just 9.9yuan/half kilogram.
Meats: the price was kept stable without big change
“The meat price is similar for both supermarket and farmers’ market, so I do not want to go so far to buy the meat.” said grandpa Liu when he bought some meat on a supermarket near her house. As mentioned by grandpa Liu, in recent 2-3 months, the meat price was kept in an acceptable level, and for some special offer the price would be even cheaper.
According to the latest data shown by Chenzhou Price Bureau that the price of grain and oil was kept stable that the price of egg, rice, fish and oil was almost kept the same as earlier weeks. Fresh pork, fresh mutton and fresh beef were the same as last stage. Just the green pepper was about 20% higher than early last month to be 6yuan/half kilogram in the farmers’ market.
As informed by the staffs of price monitoring center, some workers were dispatched to the market to monitor the price every day in this winter. Because of cold weather, people were in bigger demands of meats as beef, mutton, and etc. Because the Spring Festival was coming, more people need to make some sausages which would drive the marketing of pork. But the price of meat would not fluctuate too much before the festival.
Furthermore, as introduced by Zhang Honghua- Office Director of Chenzhou Price Bureau that further supervision and monitoring work would be handled out by the bureau before the festival. Once the consumers found some situations that the price changed too much, they can call the hotline 12358 to issue the complaint to the bureau.
Vegetables: it was estimated to rise a little after Feb. 10, 2015
“It seems that the vegetable price was almost the same as earlier days, so we do not need to store more.” said Guo Ping’an-one of the citizens of Chenzhou city. In last Spring Festivals, she would store up some vegetables before the festival, but this year the vegetable price was kept cheap. Taking Chinese cabbage, white radish and some other ordinary vegetables for example, they were just 2yuan/half kilogram currently.
“From last December to now, the vegetable price was kept stable. It was estimated to rise a little after Feb. 10, 2015.”introduced by Jiang Xiaobing- Director of Management Center of Qixing Wholesale Market. Currently, there were over 40kinds of vegetables available in the market with the supply capacity of 450tons/day. Jiang said that according to the experiences, affected by labor force cost, transportation cost, supply and demand relation, weather and etc. before the Spring Festival, the wholesale price of vegetables would rise a little. Generally speaking, cucumber, green pepper, eggplant, Chinese cabbage and some other ordinary vegetables would be with smaller amount of increase of 0.2-0.3yuan/half kilogram, while some other kinds as green bean, potato, melon and fruits would be with bigger amount of increase of more than 1yuan/half kilogram.
It was introduced by Jiang Xiaobing, in order to ensure the vegetable supply during the Spring Festival, the wholesale market would strengthen the transportation and reservation of external vegetables. Currently, some teams have been dispatched to Guanghou, Changsha and other cities to contact with source of goods. “After the Preliminary Eve, 300-500tons of pepper, cucumber, eggplant, Chinese cabbage, beans and some other main vegetables would be reserved in the market to ensure that all leading kinds of vegetables would not be out of stock. Once encountered with the snow and cooling weather, the reserved vegetables would be released to the market followed with the requirements of relative departments.”said Jiang Xiaobing.
