It was learned that Chenzhou city asked for some departments and county (city, district) governments’ comments on establishment of “National Model City for Environmental Protection” on March 6, 2015. Principals from 40 departments as Chenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau, Chenzhou Development and Reform Commission, Chenzhou Economy and Information Commission, Chenzhou Human and Social Resource Administration, Chenzhou Housing Bureau, Chenzhou Transportation Bureau, Chenzhou Statistic Bureau, and etc. and some counties (cities and districts) attended the conference and presented their comments and suggestions as well.

On the conference, the principals of the departments stated their comments on the contents and evaluation indexes concerned for the solution of establishment work, such as urban sewage treatment rate, sewage disposal plant and supporting pipe network, people’s satisfactory on environment condition, present environment quality condition, average value of noise in regional area, propaganda work, and etc. Chenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau would handle further revision on the solution of establishment work on the basis of the comments and suggestions presented by the attendants, and then submitted to the government’s office for further discussion. Chenzhou city would perfect the model of establishment mechanism and implement the evaluation indexes to meet the target to establish Chenzhou city to be national model city for environmental protection within 5 years.

It was learned that national model city for environmental protection is the top prize for the environmental protection work of China, which fully indicates the coordinated development between social & economic development and environment construction. Some cities of Hunan province started their work on the establishment of national model city for environmental protection 10 years ago, but till now, no one achieved the target. It is not only an opportunity but also a challenge for Chenzhou city to start the establishment work. Chenzhou city would seize the chance to carry out the projects as “blue sky”, “clear water” and etc., perfect the infrastructure construction of environment, improve environment quality, implement the 26 evaluation indexes of 5 categories for the model city of environmental protection, and try to pass the checking and approval of national model city for environmental protection in 5 years.
