When reporters arrived at Yongxing county, some photinia serrulata, cadarwood, campor tree, elaeocarpus decipiens, sweet osmanthus, eucalyptus, bamboo, schima superba, and other plants were planted in the peak, hillside and foothill of some barren mountains. Besides those plants, some companion crops as gardenia jasminoides, day lily, peanut, soybean and etc. were planted among the trees. It was introduced that this kind of greening work handled for barren mountains did not affect the production of tea-oil camellia, but can reach rapid greening effect and gain more economic profits with the companion crops. It is a new mode for afforestation of barren mountain suitable for Yongxing county’s practical condition.

It is just a miniature of “Chenzhou mode”for afforestation of barren mountain. As introduced by the principal of Chenzhou Forestry Bureau that based on the practical condition of different counties, Chenzhou city promoted the greening work of the visual roadsides on the basis of highlighting the afforestation work of “barren mountain” along arteries. Followed the principal of suitable, beautiful and ecological plantation, the “barren mountain” greening work was promoted rapidly. Currently, 93,600mu afforetation work has been finished in Chenzhou, which over fulfilled the task set by Hunan Provincial Government.

It was also learned that assisted with the promotion of “one-hundred-day battle” of plantation, all the afforestation plans preset in early 2015 have been over fulfilled. Till the end of March 31, 2015, 400,100mu afforestation work has been completed in Chenzhou city, while the task allocated to Chenzhou city by Hunan Provincial Government was 360,000mu.

As stated by the principal of Chenzhou Forestry Bureau that the common problems for Chenzhou afforestation work were difficult construction, tight budget, heavy maintenance work, and etc. Chenzhou city would keep handling the round-off work for the afforestation and greening of barren mountains, the inspection work of spring afforestation, and maintenance work of afforestation in next step. At the meantime, it would well handle the upgrading of sceneries and afforestation planning for this winter and next year.
