It was reported that an opening ceremony for the country road of Xibianshan was held in Rucheng county recently. The project which was invested with 15million yuan is 20.337kms long, covering 3 administrative villages and 100 natural villages.

Nandong town of Rucheng county is one of the two old revolutionary base areas (the other is Haotou town) of Rucheng county. Mao Zedong established the first revolutionary base of south Hunan province in October, 1928- Hunan Rucheng Xibianshan revolutionary base which was in charge of Tang Tianji- Secretary of County Party Committee at that time. Xibianshan revolutionary base kept fighting for extremely hard guerrilla warfare for over 10 years. More than 20 battles were recorded in the history during that period. Some revolutionary martyrs sacrificed their lives on the war. General Tang Tianji used to visit Xibianshan revolutionary base again in 1983 and wrote down a famous inscription there.

Xianbianshan village of Nandong town where is far away from Nandong town’s government place is suffered from bad natural condition for a long time. The country road is one of the key problems need to be settled urgently. Local government fought hard to obtain project and capital for the village. Finally, the project was approved by Rucheng County Reform and Development Bureau in early of this February. In early April, Fang Nanling- Secretary of Rucheng County Party Committee led a poverty alleviation team to move into the village and settled the capital problem of the country road. The opening ceremony for the country road was held on April 15, 2015.

It was introduced that the 20.377kms long project was started from Yulin village and ended at Xibianshan village, covering 3 administrative villages and 100 natural villages. The designed width of roadbed and pavement is 6.0meters and 4.5meters respectively.
