It was learned from Rucheng County Development and Reform Bureau that the comprehensive treatment of waste residue of Rucheng Xiaoyuan mine was approved by the State Development and Reform Committee. The total investment of it was amounted to 135.09million yuan, 40.50million yuan of which was for central government’s budget and 94.59million yuan was for the enterprise.

The project was mainly for the safe disposal of 2.36 million cubic meters’ waste residue (the main heavy metals are chromium, arsenic, lead, and etc.) of 15 places. It would be started in 2015 and was estimated to be finished after the new year of 2016. The specified contents of this project include: screening disposal of the water residue- 1.38 cubic meters wastes would be stacked nearby and supporting 800meters long retaining wall and drainage ditches would be built as well; transferring of 0.98million cubic meters screen underflows (tailings of beneficiation)- it would be transferred to the second phase of tailings pond of Hongwei Dressing Plant; comprehensive treatment for the second phase of tailings pond of Hongwei Dressing Plant- reinforcement and repairing of 1220meters cut-off ditch and 680meters supporting tunnel, and construction of a new masonry dam and a new 1080meters long draining pipe; closure of the tailings pond- once finished the safe landfill, the pond would be closed and a collection &disposal system of percolates would be established; and recovery of 63,300 square meters plants and ecological recovery of the site once the residues were removed.

Once the project finished, the basic functions and ecological system of Rucheng Xiaoyuan mine area would be efficiently protected and local environment, economy and society can be developed sustainably.
