It was learned that the first academician working station of lake in Hunan province- academician working station of Dongjiang lake ecological and environmental protection was established in Zixing city. Meng Wei- one of the academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering unveiled the nameplate for it. It was another significant measure for Zixing city's construction of ecological civilization and promotion of sustainable development.

In recent years, Zixing city took active actions on implementing the strategy of "ecology-oriented" and forcefully promoted the transformation development and green development. Zixing county took great courage to shut down 21 high energy-consumption and heave pollution enterprises, close 160 illegal mines, and rejected 46 industrial projects which may cause pollution to the ecological environment, accounting to over 5billion yuan investments.

At the meantime, assisted with the technological innovation, Zixing city helped 35 traditional enterprises to reach transformation development, settled 111 key technologies for the industrial development, and promoted 119 new technologies, all of which enabled technology to be the important support for the sustainable development of enterprises. Zixing Jiaodian and other 4 enterprises reconstructed by advanced technologies to reach the zero emission. Currently, there are 32 high-tech enterprises available in Zixing county, contributing over 8billion yuan annual added value.

Zixing city also paid special attention on the application of technologies to protect and recover the ecological environment. Dongjiang lake which is located in Zixing city is with 160square kilometers of water surface and 8.12billion cubic meters of water storage capacity and is with national first-class drinking water. Zixing city well implemented the special technology project of "construction of the technological service platform for the protection of water sources of Dongjiang lake" and some other projects as "ecological recovery and demonstration of large-scale mining base" technologically supported by national "twelfth five-year plan". Now, Dongjiang lake has become national wetland park and has been enrolled into the first batch of national demonstrations of ecological tourism.

Currently, all the 20 towns and counties (sub-districts) of Zixing city have been established to be Hunan provincial ecological counties and towns, which enabled Zixing city to be with a green image. Sound ecological environment attracted thousands of visitors from domestic and abroad. During "May Day holiday" of this year, 130,000 visitors were received by Zixing city.
