It was reported that Shi Qiuchi- Deputy Director of Water Resource Department of the State Water Conservancy Ministry investigated Chenzhou city’s construction of water ecology civilization pilot from January 5-6, 2016. He highly affirmed the work handled out by Chenzhou city: “ it is inspired that there are many distinguish features, highlights, and experiences of Chenzhou city’s construction of water ecology pilot.”

Guided with the concepts of scientific protection and reasonable utilization of water resources, Chenzhou city carried out the construction of water ecology city firstly in Hunan province from the beginning of enrollment in the list of first batch of water ecology civilization pilots of China in July 2013. It paid great efforts on exploring the paths of construction of water ecology civilization city in mountainous and hilly areas of south China to enhance the management of water resources, improve the reasonable utilization of water resources, and optimize the water ecological environment. Till now, 15.8billion yuan has been placed on the water ecology construction, accounting for 86% of the total investment for the pilot construction period.

Shi stated that Chenzhou city highlighted the efforts on layout, cooperation, and key points to play the best advantages of water and improve the construction of water ecology civilization pilot in last two years. It is the inspection and acceptance year for the first batch of water ecology civilization pilots of China in 2016. Shi expressed his hope that Chenzhou city could place more efforts on the pollution control of heave metals of Xiangjiang River and overall treatment of water in urban and rural areas, especially on exploring and summarizing the experiences gained in earlier stage to prepare for the inspection and acceptance, and provide some duplicable and referential experiences for other similar pilots.

Gan Minghui- Deputy Director of Hunan Water Conservancy Ministry and Lei Xiaoda-Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou City accompanied Chi with this investigation.
