It was learned from Rucheng leadership office of establishment of national garden, sanitary, and civilization city ( “three establishment office” for short) that Rucheng county was awarded as “national garden county” by the State Housing and Construction Ministry. It is one of the two cities from Hunan province which won the tile as well as the exclusive one from Chenzhou city.

In recent years, Rucheng county followed the development orientation of “building modern garden hot spring county, improving ecological, geological, and fitness development” to carry out the construction of national garden county. It handled different measures to improve landscaping and construction of garden county. At the meantime, it enhanced the work on planning compilation and mechanism formation of landscaping. Followed the general layout of “one belt, two circles, six waters, and ten gardens”, it placed over 200million yuan on greening projects by integrating Neo-Confucianism culture in recent three years. Dragon Temple Wetland and other series landscape projects were finished there with high quality. 

Rucheng county played the best role of its ecological advantages and enhanced the ecological protection, which laid solid foundation for the sustainable development of its greening. It also took active actions on advocating the construction of saving type green lands, improving vertical planting on the basis of its practical condition, and popularizing the plantation suitable for the county. It also paid closer attention on the maintenance of ancient trees and reserve resources and integrated treatment of greening and environment in urban and rural areas, which helped to share the ecological civilization construction achievements with the masses. Furthermore, about 6 billion yuan was placed on some municipal engineering as water and electricity supply, road, gas, communications, and etc., which promoted the energy saving and emission reduction and upgraded the performance of municipal engineering facilities.

With all the efforts, Rucheng presents a “green, Neo-Confucianism cultural, and gallery-like image” to all people. Currently, there are 71,000 people living in 9square kilometers big built-up areas of county downtown. 326.7hectares are green lands and 73.63hectares are park green lands. Its greening coverage rate is 39.05%, green land rate for the built-up areas is 36.3%, and per capita park green land areas are 10.37square meters. Rucheng county was recently upgraded to be national garden county after its establishment of Hunan provincial garden county in 2012.
