According to the list of first batch of establishment of “national demonstration of popular tourism” that Suxian district of Chenzhou city was enrolled as one of 262 cities and counties in the list.
Popular tourism refers to the development mode which takes a specified region as a comprehensive tourism destination and handles comprehensive planning, management, and marketing of it, which can promote the popular development of the whole region.
Principally speaking, 2-3years will be granted to the creating units (provincial, municipal and county level governments) for handling the establishment work. The units which reach following standards firstly can be proceeded to approval step in advance: tourism industry contributes 15% to local economy and 20% to the new employments, “1+3” tourism comprehensive management and enforcement are handled out, the rate of tourism toilets is qualified, and tourism data center is built. Once approved, the units will be enrolled into the directory of “national demonstrations of popular tourism”.

It was learned that all the units which enrolled into the directory of “national demonstrations of popular tourism” will be preference to being covered into central and regional budgetary investments, being supported with tourism infrastructure construction, being listed into tourism investment preference directory, being assisted with tourism diplomacy and propaganda, being enrolled into pilots of reform and innovation, being supported for the establishment of A level landscape, being placed for tourism talents training, and being considered as key connection regions of the State Tourism Bureau.

Suxian district is a place with abundant landscape resource and rich culture. In recent years, it kept the concept of “keeping leading role of industry, improving overall development” and played the best advantages of its resources and ecology to popularize the tourism brand of “blessing fairyland, landscape Suxian”. With its great efforts, Shenhen Tiehan, Beijing Shunfeng Group, Xiang Kindsky Group, and some other strategic investors were attracted to place investment on it. More than 10 billion yuan was invested on Wangxianling, Feitian Mountain, Xujiadong hot spring small town, and other landscapes, which improved Suxian district to be an important role of Chenzhou city’s tourism development. The district grasped the key point of the establishment of “national demonstration of popular tourism”, integrated culture into the tourism industry, combined tourism elements into tertiary industry, and applied internet technologies into the expansion of tourism market, all of which are purposely to improve popular tourism to be an important engine of expanding consumption. It also relied on the development of eastern district to build series tourism centers and try to promote the substantialization and industrialization of commercial real estate economy, exhibition economy, and business travel economy. Culture and tourism industry are being improved together to reach the evolution from “soft power” to “solid support”. In 2015, 4.462million visitors worldwide were received by the district, contributing 4.19billion yuan income, up 22.3% and 21.9% respectively. It was also honored with the award of Hunan “top ten county” of tourism industry development. Popular tourism is becoming a new engine for promoting the development of Suxian district.
