Recently, Rucheng forestry departments worked together with Reshui, Jiyi, Sanjiangkou and some other towns and counties to carry out voluntary tree planting activities. Local people were busy with the tree planting work in barren mountains and along highways and village roads.

In recent years, followed the target of establishing it to be national garden county, Rucheng county carried out series afforestation and greening work in central urban area, hills, waters, channels, villages, barren mountains, mines, and etc. Some green landscape galleries as Xiarong expressway, Pingru expressway, G106, and S910 were forged in the county. The banks of key rivers were planted with different species of trees and flowers. The landscape upgrading work for 13 demonstration towns and 60 demonstration villages were finished, as well as the afforestation and recovery of some mines of Xiaoyuan, Daping and Jingpo.

The county carried out quota cutting mechanism and strengthened its source management. Bans or limitations were issued for the first ridge of the mountains along expressways, G106, and S535. It also paid more attention on fighting against the illegal behaviors.

In 2015, the county finished 39,400mu afforestation work, sealed 2.23million mu lands for afforestation, upgraded 1000mu ring-county ecological landscapes, recovered 1823mu mines, planted 2000mu precious trees, and completed 6000mu key areas’ greening. 13 demonstrations for upgrading of forest ecology landscapes were established. 400kms long biological fire-control belt and more than 800kms channel greening upgrading work were built as well. It was established to be national garden county successfully. Till the end of this February, 12,400mu afforestation work and 23,500mu land leveling work for mountainous afforestation have been done, accounting for 47.69% and 90.38% of preset plan.
