Recently, Gui Jianfang – Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences signed the agreement with Zixing city to establish academician workstation for sustainable development of fishing in Dongjiang Lake which is the first one available in Hunan province. It will help to provide more technological support for Zixing city’s development of fishing.

There are over 0.3million mu water surfaces available in Zixing city, accounting for 10% of its land areas. 0.261million mu is suitable for fishing for its rich water resources of cool and hot water and sound water quality. In recent years, Zixing city played the best advantages of the resources to promote fishing as the leading industry for improving its economy, establishing many feeding bases of different species of fish. In 2015, the total output of aquatic products was amounted to 33,500tons, contributing 328million yuan output value.

According to the agreement, the academician workstation will focus on the study of genetic features of some special fishing resources of Dongjiang Lake, as well as provide more technological supports for the regular utilization of the fishes. It also will introduce the scientific results on Prussian carp and popularize it in Dongjiang Lake. Furthermore, it will help to cultivate more technological talents for Zixing city, obtain more projects, develop Dongjiang Lake’s fishing resources, and promote the sustainable development of Zixing city’s fishing industry.

The agreement indicated that Zixing city stepped into a new beginning on introducing high level talents and promoting deepening cooperation of industry-university-research.
