47 towns and 870 villages were merged on the process

It was reported that the leadership conference for adjustment and reform of division of administrative areas at township level was held in Chenzhou city recently. On the conference, the relative work handled out on earlier stage as well as the work should be carried out in following stage were summarized and studied accordingly. Gong Fengxiang- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and team leader of the adjustment work attended the conference and delivered a speech there.

Till December 20, 2015, 47 towns were merged in Chenzhou city, decreasing 25.54%, which indicated that the merging of towns was finished in Chenzhou city. 156 towns (sub-districts) were kept in Chenzhou city after the adjustment. Till May 16, 2016, 870 administrative villages were merged in Chenzhou city which was 11 more than the preset target. The total amount of administrative villages of Chenzhou city was decreased from 2937 to 2067.

Gong Fengxiang affirmed the sound and effective work handled out in the first stage of the adjustment. Thanks to the closer attention paid by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government, the leadership was well organized which provide strong support for the work. More efforts were tried on solving the problems and upgrading working efficiency on the process of optimizing solution and promoting the adjustment and reform. Furthermore, all departments work together to promote the work in accordance with the requirements of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Hunan Government. Due to the great efforts tried by the whole city, the merging of towns and administrative villages was promoted rapidly and effectively in advance of the preset time schedule, which helped to save some time for the leadership transition of the towns.

Gong Fengxiang emphasized that further following up should be carried out in next step to grant the stable and safe performance of the merged towns and villages. More specified responsibility mechanism should be worked out for the management. The leadership groups should be confirmed to ensure local economic development. Closer attention should be paid on serving for people, which was purposely to avoid the potential problems may cause for people on the merging process. The achievements of reform should be stabilized by handling better propaganda work, summarizing typical experiences, and solving practical problems.
