Recently, 13,600mu high standard farmlands project was completed in Waliaodong, Yangshi town, Guiyang county. Once placed into operation, annual production capacity of grain can be 1.3716million kgs more, which can grant 1.3127million yuan more income to the 17,200 farmers of the project area. According to the statistics, 72,500mu high standard farmlands similar to Waliaodong are available in Guiyang county, benefiting 106,000 farmers.

In recent years, followed the targets of improving agriculture and increasing farmers’ income and the ideas of “large-scale development, regulated management, refine construction”, Guiyang county placed great efforts on comprehensive development of agriculture and improvement of agricultural condition. Concerned for the capitals, it implemented the joint investment mechanism and placed about 70million yuan on the construction of high standard agriculture demonstration project in recent 4 years. In the meantime, the funds from agriculture, land & resource, water conservancy, tobacco, and other departments were well integrated, which helped to solve the narrow-neck capital problems.

On the process of the improvement of high standard farmlands, Guiyang county followed high level planning, high standard construction, and strict management. It figured out scientific planning accordance with basins and irrigation zones. Strict qualify criteria was applied to some projects as dam, tractor-ploughing road, tractor-ploughing bridge, and etc. In order to ensure the high quality of all projects, three parties as relative departments, supervision companies, and people handled supervision together, which formed the pattern of combined professional and mass supervision. All projects will be managed by the towns where the project located comprehensively, and then designated to the villages based on benefited areas.

Lei Guocheng who is one of the villagers of Shuangtang village, Yangshi town planted 15mu flue-cured tobacco which is 5mu more than last year. Just this business can help Lei to gain 20,000yuan more than last year. “The yields of farmlands used to be depended on the weather, but now, facilitated with the water conservancy, the problems of flood and drought are well solved! Once all the tractor-ploughing roads are ready, we can drive the farm vehicles to farmlands directly,” gladly said Lei.
