On the morning of May 5, the Municipal Food and Drug Safety Committee held its first plenary meeting. Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Liu Zhiren required at the meeting to keep food and drug safety bottom line with due diligence.

The city's food and drug safety work was summarized and deployed, and the relevant work program, work arrangements and assessment rules were considered in the meeting.

Liu Zhiren stressed the food and drug safety is not only an economic issue, but also a political issue. We must raise awareness and attach great importance to it, effectively strengthen the "four consciousness", unify the idea and action with General Secretary Xi Jinping series of important instructions spirit, firmly maintain a high degree of consistency with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core of the CPC Central Committee in ideological and political action, and effectively take the food and drug safety in hand and implement into the actual work with a high degree of political responsibility and a strong sense of historical mission, to eliminate all adverse events and accidents.

Liu stressed the food and drug safety is the largest people's livelihood and the most basic public safety. We must be strict in supervision and management according to law. We must implement the most stringent standards, and strictly implement the safety standards, law enforcement standards, the rectification with standard, to ensure the implementation; implement the most stringent supervision, strengthen the whole field of supervision, adhere to the source of prevention, strengthen the process of strict control, and do a good job on risk control; implement the most severe punishment, strengthen the social supervision, "zero tolerance" crack down according to law; implement the most serious accountability, to really publish the dereliction of duty, disorder actions and omission.

Liu Zhiren stressed the protection of food and drug safety is a systematic project and long-term task, and we must unremittingly cooperate with each other. We must strengthen the leadership. The Party Committees and Governments at all levels must really put food and drug safety supervision in a more prominent position, and the relevant departments must initiatively take the responsibility of supervision; must work together, fulfill the duty and closely cooperate in accordance with the division of duty to form "a game of chess" of supervision, and strive to build a common governance pattern of the whole society; must regularly grasp and update, improve the long-term mechanism of food and drug safety supervision, really implement all work, continue to promote the innovation of supervision concept, mechanisms and measures, and strive to improve the effectiveness of supervision.
