The establishment of popular science civilization communities is an important measure to promote the establishment of civilized city in Chenzhou, which was jointly carried out by the Municipal Association of science and technology and the Municipal Civilization Office. The establishment of popular science civilization community is held once every two years. Chenzhou has carried out three batches of popular science civilization communities from 2011 to 2015 and a total of 50 communities have successfully established the "Chenzhou popular science civilization community".

Among them, 8 communities have received the award from the community popular science benefit plan of China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance and the Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Provincial Financial Department, a total of 1.6 million yuan of incentive funds; 10 communities have received the award from the "community popular science benefit plan" of Provincial Association for Science and Technology and Provincial Financial Department, a total of 1 million yuan of incentive funds. At present, the establishment of the fourth batch of popular science civilization communities is being carried out in depth.

In the establishment of popular science civilization communities, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology and the establishment units will focus on the overall situation of establishing the national civilized city, take the community science positions, popular science facilities and popular science team construction as the important tasks, earnestly strengthen the "four one" construction (that is to build a public science school, set up a public science activities room, build a group of popular science column, and set up a team of scientific volunteers), and actively organize the mass and scientific civilized educational activities with rich contents and diverse forms in accordance with the establishment requirements to improve the scientific quality of community residents, and promote the formation of love, science, civilized, healthy and upward social atmosphere.

Combined with the national science popularization day, science and technology week, disaster prevention and reduction publicity day, food safety publicity week and so on, Chenzhou City will also jointly organize the selection activities of "popular science community" and "popular science family", and actively organize the colorful and popular scientific activities focusing on the theme of "talking about scientific life, building civilized communities", "saving energy resources, protecting the ecological environment, ensuring the safety and health, and promoting innovation and creation".
