Massive plant fossils were recently discovered in the suburbs of Guiyang County, Chenzhou City of Hunan Province. Such dense distribution of plant fossils with clear leaf vein has been rarely seen.

Primary estimation by experts revealed that these fossils evolved from volcanic eruption about 10,000 years ago. However, the historical data of Guiyang County has no record of volcanic eruption, making the existence of these fossils here a mystery to be unraveled. The answer would deepen people’s understanding of the development course of Guiyang’s natural history.
